‘Gardens of Colour’ is the theme of this year’s International Garden Festival, an annual event held at the Château Chaumont-sur-Loire, close to Domaine de Dugny. The festival runs from 29 April to 18 October and is a must-see for families visiting the Loire Valley. The stunning gardens of Chateau Chaumont are world famous and the gardeners are happy to pass on their knowledge, so amateur gardens can pick up great ideas.
There will be 20 gardens shown, selected from more than 300 projects across the world. Although Gardens of Colour sounds like an obvious title, the organisers stress that the colours are an essential part of any garden, creating harmony, contrasts and balance by endlessly combining beams of light.
The 2009 festival promises to offer stark contrast to the dull monotones of life and cities, and provide colour combinations that will have an undeniable effect on the viewers’ senses and mind.
