But which gives you most flexibility when you are there? I love travelling to Paris by train for business, but if I was travelling to the coast with family, I think I'd prefer the ease of a car. What do you think?

It's much easier and cheaper to take the train to be honest. That's what we always do when we go to France. With the Euro train, you don't have to worry about the weather conditions, and you can just go direct, which is great because I always get confused changing transport.

Its a very good message to the ferry lovers like me. Yes, i too travel much by ferries. Last month I was to france with my collegues, and enjoyed an excellent onboard service of ferries. They offered a very good discount deal and we were with our car too.
