Why the beach makes the best summer holiday

At Siblu, we love to talk about anything and everything related to family holidays in France, and with campsites in many different locations throughout France, Siblu has something to offer for everyone, whatever your preferences for a French summer holiday are. Still, it’s hard to deny that the beach is an all-time favourite destination for many summer holiday goers, and with so much on offer, it’s not hard to see why.

Beach Games

Children love to play games at almost any opportunity, so your summer family camping holiday in France is not likely to be any exception. A sandy beach can act as the perfect setting for a safer version of several games prone to causing accidents when inflatable tent played on solid ground, whilst games such as beach volleyball, sand pictionary and kite flying can also provide endless hours of fun.

Swimming is an essential part of a camping holiday in France for most families, and whilst the on-site pools at our Siblu resorts are fun for the whole family, swimming in the sea is another fantastic experience. Of course, it’s important to be careful not to get caught up in the tide, especially on the Atlantic Coast, but as long as you’re safe, swimming in the salt water and learning to cope with the waves adds a whole new level to swimming. The Mediterranean tends to be much calmer, in particular the French Riviera whcih often looks like a lake, though it can still get a little choppy around Montpellier and generally in the Languedoc region in the afternoon.

Water Sports

For the adrenaline junkies amongst us, water sports can give the extra kick we need to really make our summer holiday special. From gentle pedalos to jetskiis or water-skiing, some beaches in France offer a variety of water sports activities to add an element of thrill to a chilled-out beach day. Whilst not a beach on the sea, Siblu’s La Réserve campsite in South West France offers direct access to a private beach on Lake Biscarrosse, where the adventurous among you can try your hand at sailing, waterskiing and wakeboarding.

If you’d rather avoid engaging in any form of physical activity, that doesn’t mean you have to skip the beach altogether! Aside from sunbathing and working on your summer tan, many beaches have beautiful scenery to soak up. This backdrop can make the perfect place to relax, whether you choose to listen to music, read a book or just sit back and enjoy the view. And with the children playing happily in the sand, you might just have a few spare minutes to do so!

Several of our Siblu campsites are located close to beautiful beaches; take a look at our destinations to find the perfect location for your family camping holiday in France.
