The Most Family-Friendly Destinations in France

France is a popular summer holiday destination amongst Brits; from the pebbled beaches of the north to the buzz of Paris and the glamour of the south coast, there is something on offer for everyone. Requirements for a holiday tend to differ depending on your reasons for travelling and the people you’re holidaying with. For families, the specification often involves a laid-back atmosphere, plenty of activities to keep children entertained, and a variety of things to do so that every member of the family has something to keep them happy. Here are some of the most popular French holiday spots which we think could be perfect for your summer family holiday in France.

Vendée is situated in Western-central France and is a fantastic location for enjoying the great outdoors. The region boasts 200km of sandy beaches where you can soak up the sun, play games and build sandcastles. There are also a range of water sports to enjoy, so if any of your family members are the adventurous types, this is certainly a destination to consider.

Also for the adrenaline junkies, Vendée has several theme parks you can visit, including Puy du Fou, which has previously been named the best in the world!

For a more educational experience, there are plenty of interesting museums to visit. Alternatively, you can enjoy the region’s abundance of natural beauty, by fishing in the rivers and lakes or taking a bike ride along the coastal cycle path.

Normandy is often referred to as the ‘Devon of Northern France’, which in itself tells a lot about the kind of holiday destination this region is. There are many famous sights to experience in Normandy: add a historical twist to your holiday by visiting the beaches of the D-Day landings, or take a walk around the renowned Mont St Michel Abbey. If you’re a family of art lovers, you can visit Monet’s beautiful garden at Giverny and soak up the artistic atmosphere.

Normandy’s neighbour, Brittany is another fantastic destination for a family holiday in France. The region’s proximity to the UK’s south coast makes getting there fairly straight forward, which can be a real bonus when travelling with children. Brittany’s beautiful landscape provides a fantastic backdrop for however you want to spend your holidays, from beach days to boat trips or sporting activities such as cycling and golf. When visiting Brittany, we also recommend taking the opportunity to appreciate some of the world’s oldest architecture.

Languedoc is a largely underrated French resort, but the region has plenty to offer for an unforgettable family holiday. Located in southern France, the weather is warm and sunny during the summer, offering the perfect climate to enjoy the spectacular views of the unspoilt countryside. There are also many historical sights to visit and beautiful old-style cities such as Nimes and Carcassonne which make for a wonderful afternoon out. And since family holidays should cater for all the family, parents can make the most of the region’s reputable wine-making industry!

Wherever you decide to holiday in France, staying in a resort which offers plenty to do on-site is a fantastic way of ensuring children will be entertained at all times and parents have the option to join in or to sit back and relax in the knowledge that their children are having fun. Of course, above all else, we recommend our camping holidays in France, with resorts throughout the country, there is sure to be a Siblu campsite close to your dream destination.
